This has been a year of change for all of us, and the ACLU of Virginia is no different. Some of this change has been positive, and much of it has brought new challenges.
Far too many people are incarcerated in the United States and in Virginia. According to the Prison Policy Initiative, nearly 70,000 people were incarcerated in Virginia in 2018 – more than the entire population of cities such as Harrisonburg, Charlottesville and Blacksburg.
