RICHMOND, Va. –  In response to the General Assembly’s refusing to accept Gov. Youngkin’s punitive amendments to bills protecting contraception, ACLU of Virginia Legislative and Policy Counsel Breanna Diaz released the following statement:

“After the fall of Roe v. Wade, it’s become clear that extremists won’t stop at abortion, but are after all reproductive health care – including contraception.”

“By refusing to accept Gov. Youngkin’s attempts to water down HB609/SB237 and HB819/SB238 - bills protecting contraception rights for all Virginians– lawmakers demonstrated today that they know that, too. We applaud their commitment to creating a Virginia where all Virginians are free to make their own decisions about reproductive healthcare, and we look forward to seeing this legislation become law.”
