On Sunday, June 1 the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union held its always popular and well-attended Annual Meeting and Crabfest at Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria, VA.
This Chapter event featured ACLU of Virginia Executive Director Claire Gastanaga as its guest speaker. Claire, who is completing her second year as Executive Director, discussed civil liberties-based issues, lawsuits, victories, and setbacks in Virginia thus far in 2014.
Activities also included the re-election to the NoVa Chapter Board of three currently-serving Board members: Steve Levinson, Fay Slotnick, and Libby Witt.
Chapter Chair John Neal served as master of ceremonies for the Annual Meeting, which Fay coordinated. This year’s attendance included 134 ACLU members and friends.
