Did we tell you that Banned Books Week is among our most awaited events of the year? Come celebrate the freedom to read with us and Chop Suey Books on Thursday, Sept. 27, as we host a small, informal panel discussion on government censorship and the First Amendment.

Panelists include:

Patty Smith, author of The Year of Needy Girls
Ashley Diaz Mejias, author of Erasing Institutional Bias
Moderator: Eden Heilmann, Legal Director, ACLU-VA

We are delighted to have these local writers join us in a conversation over the harms of censorship to our democracy as well as to the fight for civil rights and civil liberties.

The event is FREE and open to everyone. We know you want to show your love for banned books (and all books), so we're giving away all kinds of ACLU goodies, including buttons, bookmarks, stickers, and much more.

We hope you will join us and help spread the word!
