In late 2020, the ACLU and ACLU of Virginia filed an Amicus Brief in the case of Updegrove v. Herring in support of Defendants. The Plaintiffs in the case are a photography studio and photographer seeking the right to deny services to same-sex couples, which would violate the Virginia Human Rights Act. The Amicus Brief asks that the photographer's request be denied.
