The current marijuana legislation sitting on Gov. Northam’s desk will delay justice for Black and Brown Virginians who have suffered decades of harm caused by the ruthless, racist War on Drugs. Simple possession of marijuana would continue to be illegal. Tens of thousands of Virginians will continue to be subjected to disparate policing on the streets because of the color of their skin. Virginians deserve better than that.
