Join the ACLU of Virginia and Marijuana Justice in support of equitable marijuana reform on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bell Tower in Capitol Square.
Racially equitable marijuana reform should support our youth instead of criminalizing them, remove policing discretion, not include a civil penalty, and not recriminalize communities of color impacted by the war on drugs.
The General Assembly is trying to pass a harmful marijuana decriminalization bill that will stick young people with harsher punishments than adults for simple marijuana possession. This bill also does nothing to address the over-enforcement of marijuana laws in Black and Brown communities.
Come out to send a message to your lawmakers that you demand equitable marijuana reform that does not add to the school-to-prison pipeline and make racial disparities in policing worse.
