Commonwealth's attorneys play an important role in reducing Virginia's dependence on incarceration and minimizing racial disparities in the criminal justice system. This November, voters in Chesterfield will be voting for their CA. It's critical that voters engage with their CA candidates and find out where they stand on key civil rights issues, such as bail reform, marijuana decriminalization, police accountability, and much more.
For that purpose, the ACLU of Virginia, along with our partners Virginia State Conference NAACP and New Virginia Majority, is hosting the first-ever Commonwealth's Attorney Candidate Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 6 - 8 p.m. We hope you will join us to ask the two CA candidates, John Childrey for Chesterfield Commonwealth's Attorney and Scott Miles for Chesterfield County Commonwealth’s Attorney, how they plan to use their power to serve justice, improve transparency, and make our community safer.
