Please Welcome Joseph…
I am thrilled to be able to call myself a member of the ACLU of Virginia team. Since high school, I’ve wanted to work for this organization because of their commitment and dedication to the advancement and preservation of civil rights. There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing what you’re doing is having a positive impact nationwide and promoting justice.
My most recent professional experience is with Opportunities Alternatives and Resources (OAR) of Fairfax County. During my time there, I worked as a case manager and provided support to those recently released from incarceration as well as to their family members. We aimed to reduce recidivism rates by providing free educational programs such as resume building workshops and finance management classes. I also worked as a facilitator in the Violence Intervention Program.
I am a Virginia native and attended George Mason University, majoring in Criminology, Law and Society. I most recently earned my Masters degree in International Migration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Although my year abroad was an incredible experience, I’m happy to be back home.
I’m an avid music lover, I’ve played guitar for the past 10 years, and have an eclectic mix on my iTunes library. If I had to pick one guitarist as my favorite, it would have to be David Gilmour from Pink Floyd.
