Expands the Scope of Medical Marijuana

HB 1136 (Morgan)

Committee: House Courts of Justice

ACLU Position: Supports

Summary: Currently medical marijuana can be prescribed only for treatment of cancer and glaucoma.  This bill would allow the use of marijuana for the treatment of any medical condition.

Comment: Under current law, it is illegal to grow or transport marijuana in the state.  Thus even though medical marijuana is technically legal in Virginia, the law effectively prohibits its use.

Status: Left in Courts of Justice.
